Dr. Gerald Skees
Dr. Gerald Skees recalls chatting with his father about the future after he had finished up his time in the United States Army. Dr. Skees’s father told him that he himself had always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, and he asked his son if he had ever considered the profession. That conversation set in motion a journey that continues to this day—Dr. Skees has been helping pets and their owners as a veterinarian for more than 43 years!
Growing up in a house full of animals, Jessica always knew that she one day wanted to help pets professionally. Saving her childhood Yellow Labrador, Sadie—and nursing her back to full health after malnutrition and a serious flea infestation—only further convinced Jessica that the veterinary world was the perfect fit! She’s proud to now serve as Family Pet Hospital’s Practice Manager.
Destiny has always been fascinated by medicine, and was even on her way to becoming a Registered Nurse at one time. When she took a step back and thought about it, though, she knew that something didn’t feel quite right. That’s when she realized that she wanted to put her medical skills and her knack for helping others to use in the veterinary world! Destiny hasn’t looked back since, and she’s proud to now serve as a Veterinary Technician.
Growing up I had an array of pets ranging from cats & dogs to bunnies & reptiles. I wanted to work in veterinary medicine to offer care for pets in need. I enjoy the people I work with as well as all of our patients & clients. It can be difficult, yet fun and rewarding.

When I was 7 years old I remembered my parents gave me a small puppy boxer. He grew up with the family he was playful and funny. All my childhood i had different kinds of pets like dogs, cats, tortoises, small parrots, fishes, and 1 armadillo. I got along with all of them. When I was a child I always wanted to have a lot of animals or work in a vet. Because I loved to be surrounded by pets and that wish continued till now. I like working to take care of pets and also be surrounded by people that do and love the same like me. helping pets to be healthy and happy and to know more about them. I also love teaching people how to take care of pets.
I always had pets growing up and started caring for them at an early age. I learned to groom professionally in the 1970’s and haven’t looked back since, still love it today. It was a family business. I’ve been here since 2012. I love the staff and Dr. Skees and I love all my clients and their pets.
